Parent FAQs

As a leading childcare provider in Nantwich and Sandbach, we like to ensure parents remain informed.

La Maternelle is open for 51 weeks of the year. We close at 6pm on the last working day before Christmas eve and re-open at 7.30pm on the first working day of the new year. This tends to be the 23rd December and 2nd January, but can vary depending on what day Christmas falls. We are closed on Bank Holidays.

Due to the high occupancy level of the setting we are unable to offer swaps for permanent sessions. We are also unable to offer holiday breaks from permanent sessions.

Discuss your concerns with your child’s Key Person.

Child Checkpoints are carried out 3 times a year. Following a child checkpoint parents receive an observation via EyLog to communicate children are at the expected level of development. If there were any concerns about children’s development these would be communicated to you prior to checkpoints. Parents can request a conversation with their child’s Key Person at any time.

Food is delivered to the Nursery from Apetitio which is a Nursery specific branch of the Wiltshire Food Company. We have a 3 week rotating menu that is updated with the seasons.

Discussions with parents will take place prior to beginning weaning and toileting. We will always consider parents views but are also able to offer advice and support based on our experience of all methods of weaning and toileting. We will always work alongside parents to ensure children have a consistent approach.

We recommend as soon as possible as spaces are very limited.

Click on the name of the nursery you would like to register for and then click the ‘Register Now’ button and complete our registration form.

All children follow a settling in process prior to starting. Children under 2 will attend with parents for an All About Me visit, where they will meet their Key Person alongside their parent, whilst we complete a questionnaire. This is carried out over the phone for children under 2. All children then have 2 visits to the setting, a 2 hour visit followed by a 4 hour visit.

Yes all lead staff are first aid trained but also the majority of our practitioners are too.

Usually every six years – they have both been graded Outstanding in their most recent inspections.

Yes all staff must have an enhanced DBS check prior to starting and they sign up to the update service which checks their records annually.

Yes all staff hold a Level 3 qualification (or higher) or are in the process of obtaining this qualification.

For younger children we have cots and as children get older we have sleep mats. Every child has their own bedding within nursery that is laundered regularly and whenever they sleep this is put out for them.

Children sit at tables within their age specific room. Mealtimes are very sociable and the staff will sit with the children.
